The Theater Department at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts believes Theater is a creative art in which true excellence can only be achieved through mastery of the technical craft. The Theater curricula combine rigorous studio class work with a demanding production schedule to provide students with in-depth training and practice in theater. Distinguished master teachers and professional artists conduct the classes. For undergraduates, B.F.A. conservatory training is offered in Acting, Design: set, costume and lighting design, and costume technology, and Stage Management and Technical Direction. The Theater Department produces an extensive season of 15 to 18 or more plays every year, including those produced by the graduate directing program's Jameson Project. In addition, the department presents numerous BFA workshops, salons, class scenes, and senior projects.
